Son of Siddhi Bahadur Maharjan and Hira Kumari Maharjan, Saroj Dangol was born on November 11, 1972 in Birgunj. He holds a Master's Degree from the Management Faculty. He is the father of a son and a daughter. He is contesting from Lalitpur-2 in the CA Election 2013 representing UCPN-Maoist.  

He took active participation in the movement against the Panchayat System in 1986. He worked as messenger between the Left Front and Nepali Congress during the 1990 movement for democracy. He was elected as a general convention member from Lalitpur-2 in 1998. He quit UML to join CPN-ML after the party split over the issue of Mahakali Treaty. But when the party united again in 1999, he left the UML.  

He joined the then CPN (Maoist) in 2001 and made arrangements for the lodging of the underground central level Maoist leaders in Kathmandu Valley. He also went underground for some months in 2002 while making arrangements for a meeting of the CPN (Maoist) at his own residence.

He is the founder chairman of Newar National Liberation Front-Lalitpur. He had also played a crucial role in establishing the UML's sister organization Democratic National Youth Association in Lalitpur. He is a district member of the UCPN-Maoist and represents the party in the political mechanism of Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City.

Involved in brick and cement business, along with educational organizations, Dangol had also run the business of cold store, transportation, carpet and poultry farming. He is the founder of Urban Environment Management Society (UEMS) and is associated with Rotary Club of Lalitpur, Nepal Red Cross Society - Lalitpur and Nepal Heart Foundation - Lalitpur. He was the founder general secretary of Nepal China Chamber of Commerce - Lalitpur Branch. He is associated with many other organizations.
