Election Area: Bardiya-2
CPN-UML's Bardiya District Secretariat member Purna Sharma was born on June 20, 1954 in Chuwa VDC, Parvat. His family has been living in Bardiya's Ranipur, Padnaha-8 since 1978. Son of Dillu Prasad and Dil Kumari Upadhyaya, Purna Sharma was attracted to communist ideologies in 1972 but became organized only in 1981.
He joined active politics in 1981 by joining the Cell Committee of the then CPN (ML). However, he received the party membership only in 1992. Having worked as the party's village committee and area committee secretary and in-charge, Sharma is in district committee since the past 16 years. He was the party's district vice-chairman and served as acting district chairman till 2012. He lost the election for the chairman in the 8th General Convention. After he lost the election, the district committee nominated him as district secretariat member. After the CPN-UML went through a vertical split in 1998, Sharma joined CPN (ML).
Sharma also has the experience of serving as people's representative. In the local elections of 1993 and 1998, he was elected as VDC chairman. Also involved in various social organizations, Sharma is the operator of Nepal Agriculture Central Association and district president of the District Agricultural Cooperatives Association. He has been the chairman of Small Farmers Agriculture Cooperatives for the past 13 years. He has passed Grade 10.

People walk for 3-4 hours to vote. The leaders, however, use helicopter to cover a distance of even just an hour's walking distance. Why does the EC not see this?

Those who capture booths are cowards, no matter whichever party carries it out. This is a disregard to the people's ballot. The election should be cancelled if the booth is captured.
