Chitra Bahadur Shrestha was born on July 22, 1954. Born to Dirgha Narayan and Nand Kumari Shrestha in Devisthan-3, Phalebas Parbat, Shrestha has a school education of standard 10. He joined politics from student’s life in 1976.

Shrestha was elected from Chitwan-4 in 2008 CA election with 23,942 votes. His closest opponent Tek Prasad Gurung (NC) followed him by 18,090 votes. Likewise, Dil Kumari Rawal (CPN-UML) bagged 6,140 votes.

Shrestha worked as a member of CA’s Committee for Judicial System and Parliamentary Women Children and Social Welfare Committee. He was assigned as the Central advisory member and the central general secretary of All Nepal Peasant Organization (Revolutionary).

He has two sons.
