An activist of indigenous movement, Naresh Tamrakar was born on August 21, 1959 in Taksar, Bhojpur. Son of Kaji Lal and Bhim Laxmi Tamrakar, Tamrakar holds Bachelor's Degree in Economics.  He started political career from student's movement of 1970. Affiliated NC for long time, later on, he spared more time for indigenous and linguistic movements.

During the referendum of 1979, Tamrakar served as a secretary of Multi Party Publicity and Promotion committee, formed jointly by NC and communist parties of Nepal. He played an important role from Bhojpur during the peoples' movement of 1990 and from Itahari during the democracy movement of 2006.

Chairman of Newar's National Forum Tamrakar was elected as the vice chairman of the Forum for twice. Even he played important role to gain the height of Forum's activities efficiently during his tenure, he tangled in the controversy of not conducting the 6th convention of the Forum legally. The 6th convention, which was postponed on September 22, 2012, is not fixed yet.

Tamrakar took the assignment as a Valley Coordinator of Racial Movement, which was organized just before the dissolution of CA on May 27, 2012, without promulgating constitution.  He contested for the chairman of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities in the 8th convention held in Chitwan and was defeated. He is contesting from Kathmandu-1 representing Federal Socialist Party, Nepal in the upcoming CA election.

His family includes two daughters and three sons.
