Morang District president of Nepali Congress Amrit Aryal was born on February 29, 1960 in Biratnagar. It is the second term as district president for Aryal, who is the son of Shyam Prasad Aryal and Bishnu Maya Aryal. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He is contesting from Morang-5 in the CA Election 2013 representing Nepali Congress.
Born to a family with political background, Aryal was introduced to politics since his childhood. He became district president of Nepal Student Union in 1982 and Eastern Zonal vice-president of the organization in 1984.
He took party membership while Krishna Prasad Bhattarai was party president back in the Panchayat Era. Aryal joined politics after two of his elder brothers Binod and Madan were implicated in the airplane highjack case carried out by the NC leaders during the Panchayat days. He was first arrested while he was studying in Grade 8 in 1977 for bringing the pamphlets of BP Koirala to Nepal while his elder brothers were exiled in India.
He was arrested again in 1979 during demonstrations that took place when BP Koirala went to Biratnagar. After some time of the Biratnagar incident, he spent one and a half months in jail. He was tortured in detention when he was arrested again in 1985.
He played an active role in the movements of 1986 and 1990, and was jailed for four months during the 2006 movement. He lost the election for the post of mayor of Biratnagar Municipality in 1998. He again lost the CA Election in 2008. This time he is contesting against MJF-Nepal President Upendra Yadav, who had defeated Aryal in the 2008 election.

People walk for 3-4 hours to vote. The leaders, however, use helicopter to cover a distance of even just an hour's walking distance. Why does the EC not see this?

Those who capture booths are cowards, no matter whichever party carries it out. This is a disregard to the people's ballot. The election should be cancelled if the booth is captured.
